US Federal Reserve Minutes released on Thursday continue to point towards the US Fed raising rates in December but the likelihood is they may only raise rates one more time in 2019 instead of the quarterly hikes the Fed had been warming markets to expect. Following yesterday’s comments from Fed Chairman Jerome Powell and the sharp fall on the US Dollar the greenback steadied on Thursday although continues to remain under pressure as US stock markets posted another day of gains.

The Euro got some good news on Thursday when Germany, Europe’s largest economy showed a drop in its official unemployment rate from 5.1% to 5%. It’s the first piece of positive economic data out of the Euro Area in what seems like months. Euro Zone CPI is due today and if Germany’s CPI number on Thursday is any guide, today’s wider Euro Area inflation number isn’t likely to beat expectations. We will also get the latest Euro Area unemployment rate which is currently 8%. In other news Canadian 3rd Quarter GDP is set for release on Friday as well as Swiss National Bank President Thomas Jordan is speaking in Bern.

I look forward to seeing you for Friday Live at 3.00pm AEDT.
